ER Series Rod & Cylinder-Style Economy Position Sensors
MTS Temposonics ER Rod & Cylinder-Style Economy Linear Transducers are highly repeatable, absolute position sensors for linear measurement. Absolute measurement offers safety for machine and automation devices. With absolute output, position information is instantly available. Power-down situations do not require rehoming of the device.

Using the unique magnetostrictive principle, that MTS pioneered, the sensor precisely senses the position of an internal magnet as the rod moves, to measure position with a high degree of resolution and accuracy. The Temposonics ER sensor’s innovative design is a result of MTS’s experience in magnetostrictive technology combined with solid engineering, extremely rugged construction and modern electronics. The Temposonics ER is a precise, durable and cost effective alternative to linear potentiometers. They offer all the advantages of a non-contact position sensor suitable for a wide range of machines and automation applications.

3. Type of Thread (choose S or M)
S = Inside thread 1/4-28 (English). Must be used for ER sensors having US stroke lengths ("U" in item 8).
M = Inside thread M6 (Metric). Must be used for ER sensors having Metric stroke lengths ("M" in item 8).

4-7. Stroke Length - Stroke range = 003.0 to 060.0 in. or 0075-1500mm
(must correspond to Stroke Unit of Measurement selected in Item 8)


8. Stroke Unit of Measurement ( choose U for inches and tenths or M for millimeters)
U = Inches and tenths (Encode in 0.1 inch increments, for example: 0125U = 12.5 in, 1200U = 120 in)
M = Millimeters (Encode in 5mm increments, for example: 0120M = 120 mm, 1200M = 1200 mm)

NOTE: Mounting feet for the Temposonics ER sensor must be ordered separately. Order 2 mounting feet, (Part No. 400802), for sensors up to 50 in. (1250mm). One additional mounting foot is recommended for longer lengths.
